Discovery NotesThis phage was found by Mendel Pond on the campus of Merrimack College. It was found from a soil sample taken from underneath a hydrangea plant in the shade, about an inch and a half under the ground. It was a warm, humid day and the soil was damp. Temperature was 81 degrees Fahrenheit. It had rained a few days prior, so the soil was still damp.
Naming NotesThe phage name was formed by combining the founders two last names, Sheppard and Hanlon.
