Discovery NotesShinyBen was found on The Walk (South) on Brown University's campus walking towards Emery-Woolley Hall past the tin people statue. It was on the right sidewalk, in a patch of dirt in between the fourth tree and second bench, on the edge of the mulch and stones in front of the bench.
It was in dark brown, damp soil, with a top layer of sand, rocks, leaves, and mulch. There were mulch and roots deeper in the soil and the sample was taken from about 4 cm down.
Naming NotesShinyBen is named after the tin people statue found on The Walk on Brown University's campus and its identity as a B1 phage.
