Discovery NotesThe day I collected my sample, I had arrived on campus bright and early. I dug about an inch into the soil in order to avoid collecting dead soil and debris. When i was an inch deep, i collected 15mL of soil. The temperature that day was around 73 degrees fahrenheit and it was also humid. What threw me off a bit was that the soil I had collected was dry and i didn't know if a virus could form in a dry area. What eased me up a bit was the fact that the soil was a dark brown color meaning that it had a high organic matter content or, in other words, the soil was useful and reliable. The next day we performed direct isolation in order to find viruses in our samples. To my luck, I had plated 500 mL of my sample instead of 1000mL but the solution was very simple! I ended plating twice, each plate containing 500mL of my sample. The next day, there was a clearing on my plate! two plaques! I succeeded, I found a virus!
Naming NotesAn acquaintance of mine has a very unique last name "Singh" and I consider my last name an odd one. "Lora" is usually seen as a first name so i decided to merge them and I got "Singhora!"
