Discovery NotesThe dirt sample that contained this phage was obtained at 10:30pm on 8/23/2013. The soil was dry, and the air temperature was approximately 83 degrees. The soil was acquired in a suburban area, approximately 25 feet away from any buildings. The location had very little foot traffic and had lots of plants and foliage because the sample was taken from a garden.
Naming NotesThis phage was named for its large head and its long tail. These characteristics inspired the name.
