Discovery NotesThe soil was moist because the night before it had rained. In the morning, the soil had somewhat hardened but was still soft. I used a digger and reached 2-3 inches before extracting approximately about 1/4 pound of soil. Soil sample is dark and resembles clay. It also contained small pieces of rocks, grass, and roots.
Naming NotesMy phage name is Sparse. I decided my name based on the fact that I had very little phage in my sample. And in my direct isolation I had no phages present. To ensure I had not made any errors I repeated direct isolation and still did not have any phages present. It was only when I did enriched isolation when i saw my phage for the first time. It was a lytic phage since it was clear and not cloudy. My plaques are 1mm in diameter.

Plaque NotesMy phage came form enriched isolation and not direct because there were no phages present when direct isolation was done. It was a lytic phage since it was clear and not cloudy. My plaques are 1mm in diameter.
