Discovery NotesSpycad was found in the top layer of potting soil in the pot with my cycad. The soil was dry, and the pot had been kept inside the house for a few months due to the cold temperatures outside. It is possible that one of our cats had used the pot as a litter box.
Naming NotesBecause we bring the cycad inside during the winter, it gets in the way. Cycads have long, sharp fronds, and we often get "spiked", thus we have named the plant (at least during the winter) our spike-cad. I named the phage found in its pot Spycad, after that, our longest-lived houseplant.
