Discovery Notes | The soil sample was collected from the lawn of the University Club at the University of Pittsburgh. It was collected at 2:39 pm on 9/3/18. In the area, there was a large patch of grass, a small tree, and shrubs. The tree was approximately eight feet from the point of soil collection. The shrubs were approximately one foot from the point of collection and the grass was about four inches from the point of collection. The soil was densely packed and very wet. It was very dark brown. Wood chips were located on the surface of the soil. The soil contained many wood pieces and was chunky, with a clay like texture. The soil was located in the shade at the time of collection, however it is likely in the sun for part of the day. It was 91 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The weather was partly cloudy. There was 49% humidity and 6 mph winds coming from the southwest. |
Naming Notes | This phage is named after my seven year old pitbull, Tia. I gave her the nickname Bean because when she curls up, she looks like a pinto bean. |
