Discovery NotesThis sample came from a section of dirt beside a pedestrian walkway a few hundred feet in front of Florence Schneider Hall at Western Kentucky University.
The temperature that day was over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and there had been next to no rain for a prolonged period of time. So, the dirt was incredibly dry and difficult to collect. Because of this, I poured a small amount of purified water onto the dirt in order to collect it easier.
There were a few small bushes in the area, alongside some dead organic material (leaves, branches, etc.).
Naming NotesThe name was inspired by my cat, who has an orange coat, like a tiger!

Plaque NotesThe plaques of Tigress9 are moderate in size, with a diameter of 4 mm. They are turbid (indicating Tigress9 is primarily lysogenic), have a consistent color and texture, and lack a "halo". Most plaques are very similar in size; some have a diameter smaller than 4 mm, but very few plaques with a diameter larger than 4 mm have been observed so far. Tigress9 appears to grow optimally at 30 degrees Celsius.
