Discovery Notes- The sample was found at the USF Botanical Gardens' compost pile.
- The sample was from the bottom of the compost pile, which consisted primarily of trimmings and debris.
- The soil seemed dark but quite dry. Additionally, the sample was collected from about an inch under the surface.
Naming NotesI searched "interesting words" one day, and I stumbled upon the word "trouvaille," which means "a lucky find" (according to Google). I felt that this word was fitting because when I had initially found my sample, I had meager expectations for what it would yield as the sample appeared quite dry. Surprisingly enough, it was the sample that produced the most exceptional results and had even, in fact, infected both bacteria strains during the initial plating period.
