Discovery Notes | Soil sample was taken from underneath a gutter pipe against the side of a building on a rainy day. |
Naming Notes | When plates are flooded and the lysate is diluted and plated, a second plaque morphology appears. This made me think I had multiple types of phage. Later on, I was somewhat confident in the predicted cluster of my phage, but the PCR results did not confirm. I named my phage Ulixes, a variation of Odysseus, a character who is sometimes deceitful. |

Plaque Notes | Plaques are typically large, clear in the center, and turbid around the edges. On less diluted plates, they are smaller and clearer. After flooding plates and collecting and plating lysate, some plaques are completely clear, with no turbidity at the borders. |
