Discovery NotesThe soil sample for this phage was collected on 9/18/17 at 74 degrees. It came from a slightly damp, mulch-like sample. This was collected on the Johns Hopkins campus in the back of the Undergraduate Teaching Labs around a tree.
Naming NotesThis phage was relatively hard to discover as it was located in a soil sample amongst another phage that was later isolated. Therefore, the small plaques became hidden amongst the larger plaques of the other bacteriophage. Thus, it was named Theunderdog. A one was put after the name to make it Theunderdog1, because it was one of the two phages the discoverer found.
