Discovery Notes | Our sample was found on-campus in the lawn (Anderson Courtyard) outside our science complex (RISC). The lawn is an area that is frequently exposed to sunlight and the only plant that grows on that lawn is grass of an indeterminate species. The soil sample was solid, clumpy, moist, slightly clay-like in texture, and dark brown. We extracted our sample after digging 1 cm straight down into the ground. |
Naming Notes | I wanted to name my phage after one of my many favorite fictional characters. Other names I had previously chosen, such as "Ludo" and "Prismo", were already taken, so I decided on the name "UniCornelius". This name refers to a character from a webcomic I (Emilia) really like. |
