Discovery Notes | The environmental sample was taken from an outdoor planter that gets ½ of direct sunlight during the summer. A small spade was used to loosen up the dirt and by inverting a plastic bag the sample was collected. The conditions during excavation was sunny at 91° fahrenheit with no breeze. Location of the sample was 36° 0’ 34’’ N , 115° 6’ 34’’ W at 2260 ft above sea level. The sample itself was very organic/loam with a pungent organic smell to it. The color was a very dark brown, almost black. The sample was also a little moist after it was watered the night before. The dirt sample in the bag was then stored in a backpack and transported back to the lab at approximately 25 minutes later. |
Naming Notes | Phage named after my mothers' birthplace in Armenia |
Sequencing Information | |
Sequencing Complete? | No |
Genome length (bp) | Unknown |
Character of genome ends | Unknown |

Lysogeny Notes | During the earlier stages of purification, most of the plaques yielded phages that had gone under lysogeny (live bacteria patches within the plaques). However, when the phage sample was purified and amplified, no signs of lysogeny were present on the bacterial lawns. |
