Discovery NotesPhage Wasabi was isolated from moist soil collected at a depth of 4cm on 5/11/17 by Min Wu. Air temp at time of collection was 20˚C. Wasabi was isolated by enrichment plating at 35C.

The soil was collected from the ground (depth of 4cm) in the Yorba Regional Park around the lake. The site is near water and tree, and it is the place where the birds, including American Coot, Ring-necked Duck, Canada Goose, etc., resting site. The surrounding environment contain a lot of bird's feces.

Characterization ws performed by Team Plaque Eyed Peas (Olivia Brobst, Siobhan McCarthy, Min-Ying Wu, Hannah Kim) and Team Vi-Rock'N'Roll-ologists ( Ally Sarkis, Amitoj Singh, and Rebecca Fernando).
