Discovery Notes | Location: an urban garden on Temple grounds. Plant diversity in the surrounding area was very great, small palm trees, assuming some types of ferns, many types of flowers. Taken from soil directly next to a suspected fern (see image). The soil was dry and fine, it had rained an hour prior to sample collection. Depth from which sample was taken: 12 cm Air temperature: 71°C AL Quarter and Lab section: F21-1A Instructor: Amanda Freise; Ana Garcia Vedrenne Teaching Assistant: Dominic Garza Undergraduate Assistant(s): Jennifer Wang Team Name: Unphaged Team Members: Daria Di Blasi, Brianna Empson, Maisam Ghannam, and Isabel Light |
Naming Notes | While sitting in class, Maisam Ghannam made a joke that it would be funny to name our phages after Middle Eastern food items. He brought up the spice Zaatar, and everyone on the team loved the sound of it even though it was originally a joke. |
