Discovery NotesThe soil was taken from a garden on the side of a house. At the time of collection it was 57.2°F with some recent rain. The soil was very moist, thick, dark, and grainy top soil. There was no evidence of organic matter in the soil sample and the sample was then driven to Baltimore over the course of 2 days.
Naming NotesThe soil was taken from a garden that I have had and maintained since I was 5 years old. I am Italian and so I wanted to name the phage after the garden I found it in so Giardino means garden in Italian.
