Discovery NotesThe location was found a couple of days away from the pond by the Benedictine apartments. As I dug up the soil it had a damp texture and was surrounded by leaves from small parts. I dug up to 2 inches into the ground and then started collecting the amount needed for the soil sample. As it was very close to the pond, possible water could have dampened the soil. I dug the soil sample with a plastic spoon, filling up close to half of the bag. The soil sample was pretty clean for the most part besides a couple pieces of tiny leaves that were nearby. Three rounds of purification were conducted to verify only one kind of phage was present with the same size.
Naming NotesThe name "Habibti" means "my love" in Arabic, the name was chosen because I thought if I were going to spend all semester dedicating time to my phage I would give it an endearing name.
