Discovery NotesPhage was discovered in a backyard near a park with heavy traffic. The soil was moist and soft due to rain the night before. A shovel was used to dig about 2-3 inches below the surface. Approximately half of a plastic Ziploc bag full (approximately ½ pound) was extracted. The soil contained small pieces of grass, sticks, and rocks.
Naming NotesPhage is named NewHomie, because after time spent, isolating and amplifying the phage, he became a new friend to our lab.
