Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected on January 25th, 2017 at 11:15 AM. The outside temperature was 8.3 degrees Celsius and the soil was dry, dark, and loose. The soil sample was taken from about 3 cm below the surface. The used sample was isolated from direct plating.
Naming NotesI chose the name "Salete" as it refers to both the origin of the sample and bacteriophages. "Salete" means "dirt" in french which is where our samples were collected from. I chose french because one of the discoverers, Felix D'Herelle, was from France.
