Discovery NotesThe sample was collected from a mossy rocky dirt patch on the shore of Lake Arthur of Gonzaga University. Compared to our other samples we collected, this one we dug about 5-6 inches into the ground to collect. At this depth, the soil collected was pretty moist.
Naming NotesBecause we dug deep compared to our other samples, we compared our bacteriophage to a worm. The scientific name of the worm is “Annelida”. Additionally, we found this bacteriophage near the water, so we thought of “Hydro-“. As a result, we named it “Hydrolida” using both parts.
