Discovery NotesSample was dry and collected one night before initiating direct isolation protocol. Soil sample was stored in a standard fridge overnight in a sealed double ziplock bag, no water was added to the sample.

Location of collection is rich with sunlight and wild-life. It is also close to a dog park.

This phage was found on a plate with another phage, each of which were separated by plaque picking and further purified individually.
Naming NotesThis name is similar to Athena who is known as the Ancient Greek goddess of wisdom. She, also, is a warrior and a symbol of freedom.

I believe that a warrior does not have to fight with their fists, they can use their knowledge to free others and work hard to fight ignorance.

Both phages found in the soil sample were therefore named after different genera of owl species. Hence Tyto and Athene.
