Discovery Notes | The soil sample was collected by Mercedes Navarro-O'hara near an irrigation ditch. There was a rotting tree surrounding the ditch with small saplings as well. Ms. Navarro-O'hara chose this location because as a child she would ride her bike by this location from time to time. |
Naming Notes | Our phage had been complicated from day 1. It's morphology was changing; we noted through our course of working with it and therefore chose to name it Avril after the singer who composed the song "It's complicated." |
