Discovery NotesI adopted my phage from a girl in my lab, Delilah. She collected from a bush outside of her home in Chicago. There was snow around the collection site and the outside temperature was 20F. The soil was collected off of the top of the surface and was damp, contained organic matter, very dark/blackish brown, and a crumbly texture.
Naming NotesI want to name my phage ClownCar for several reasons. First, my phage varies in size, which is unusual and reminds me of clowns—they come in all shapes and sizes. Second, my friends have always called my car a “clown car” because I’m constantly driving everyone around, and it’s always loud and chaotic inside. Lastly, my car is the ultimate clown car as there are six people in my immediate family. My mom is always driving around small children, plus all of their friends and mine, making it a constantly crowded and loud space. This perfectly mirrors the different-sized phages clustering together on a plate, just like the chaos of my everyday life. ClownCar is the perfect name because it reflects both my personal experiences and the unique characteristics of my page!
