Discovery Notes | The soil was obtained from a garden that contained a habanero tree. The weather was cool due to rain the previous day - about 55ºF. The soil was collected about three inches deep into the soil of the habanero tree. It had a dark, brownish color, was very moist, and had organic matter. |
Naming Notes | The reason why I chose the french name Créature Épicée, which translates into spicy critter, was mainly because this phage was found in a habanero tree. Also, this little phage was pretty cool to work with and had unique characteristics such as producing many plaques at once. Therefore, the name. |

Plaque Notes | The size of the plaques ranged from 1mm to 2mm. They appeared to have a circular shape. The plaques were clear; however, they have halos around the margins of the plaque, so it is most likely that they are temperate phages. |
