Discovery NotesI acquired my soil from the entrance of Birck Hall at Benedictine. It was moist at the time of collection. It was collected on September 9, 2024, at 9:54 a.m. and the weather was 68°F.The soil contained little pieces of rock and wood.
Naming NotesI chose "Falco" for the phage because it brings into view an image of a falcon-a bird known for its rapid flight and accuracy. For such a phage, that quickly infects bacteria and selectively targets them, these characteristics felt like an appropriate fit. The choosing of 'Falco' has turned a simple name not only more memorable and distinctive but also more personal to my research.
