Discovery NotesOur phage was collected in an environmental sample containing puddle water from beside a road outside of Hughes Hall at Gonzaga University. Within it was soil, and some organic material from dead leaves. The majority of the sample was dirty brown water.
Naming NotesWe wanted to name our bacteriophage after the location in which it was discovered. Unfortunately, the English word "Puddle" had already been used to name a phage, so we used the French translation, "Flaque" as an alternative--French being a language we were both fond of.
