Naming Notes | The Hawaiian pidgin saying "For da bois" is the English equivalent to "for the boys" or "for the bros". It is a common saying across Hawaii, but quite prominent in the Kalihi area on the island of Oahu. The true meaning of the phrase is ambiguous for it means something different for everyone. However, it is commonly used as a means for getting someone to do something that they might not want to do through theoretically staking whatever bond or relationship they have formed on whether they will or will not complete the task given. It makes some forget all consequences to their actions and creates a drive for them to complete whatever task is put in front of them. The process of archiving this phage was rather long and at times adopting a phage and moving forward with the lab procedures would have been easier. Nonetheless, we were confident in getting a phage and through 12 samples and numerous extra lab periods we finally got this phage and named it such. |
