Discovery NotesThe environmental sample was collected inside of a rotational plastic compost. The compost contained mainly vegetables, fruits, and coffee. The sample was very damp and dense. Most definitely contained many different living organisms just by the look of the insects living inside of the container.
Naming NotesGaudostopherus is originally from Gavdos that is a small island southwest of Crete. The name picked my interest due to the fact that the small island is not well known but is a gem in itself. In the same sense that phages are not well known, but are slowly getting the recognition they deserve.
