Discovery NotesThe soil sample was found in Selfoss, Iceland. The sample was in between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. The idea came to me after snorkeling in the river Silfra, which is also between the tectonic plates mentioned above.
Naming NotesI named my phage after my dog, Ginger. I have six, however, Ginger is my favorite. Since birth, she has been smaller than the other puppies in her litter. She took a liking to me when she was born and has been my favorite ever since. The name "Ginger" was taken so I changed it to "Gingery" which is one of my nicknames for her.

Plaque NotesThe plaques on the plates have always been clear. Originally, when the sample was subjected to a spot test, the spots came out turbid. In contrast, once the sample went through the purification process the plaques were clear. The clearness of the plaques indicate that the phage is a lytic phage. Each plaque is about 1-2 mm in diameter.
