Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected on 09/09/2021 at 8:19 AM at a depth of 2.5 cm. This sample was found in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, so it is from an urban setting. The soil was found in a flower bed about two feet from the sidewalk in front of the University of the Sciences' Griffith Hall. There was a lot of vegetation surrounding the soil sample and the area was moist. A pill bug came out of the soil next to where the sample was dug and the ground was level.
Naming NotesOur phage was named after Griffith Hall in the University of the Sciences, which is where it was discovered, and Gryffindor, one of the four houses of Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series.
