Discovery NotesThe sample of soil from Olympia WA was collected during a sunny day in a temperate environment in a forest. The time it was collected was during the shift of seasons from summer to fall. The dirt sample was crumbly and coarse, sort of dry but not entirely.
Naming NotesThe name of this phage, Gummy, came from a "first-hand" thought of bacteriophages as a gummy snack or candy which contributed to the decision of naming the phage Gummy for fun.
