Discovery NotesThe soil sample was retrieved near a tree on the outskirts of Benedictine Campus. The weather was 22.2 degrees Celsius (72 degrees Fahrenheit) and lightly cloudy with showers from the night before. Retrieving the dirt was easy since it was already a little moist; gloves were used to dig it up. The soil was fairly soft, wasn’t chunky, and didn’t have a lot of wood chips, pebbles, etc in it. I wore gloves and dug about 2 inches down to get ⅓ of a zip lock bag filled with soil. The soil looked dark brown and had roots in it since I dug next to a tree. I decided to dig here since the dirt was slightly moist and it was near a tree which is known to have a good amount of Arthrobacter phage.
Naming NotesI chose this phage name because it's the first letter of my name and I wrote down whatever random word I could think of that starts with the letter "H" at the top of my head.
