Discovery Notes | Soil was collected at 11:00 A.M from under the mulch surrounding a tree in a backyard. The weather was cloudy with 90% humidity and the soil was fairly wet and moist after a quick morning shower. The temperature during the soil collection was 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Although the soil was moist and wet it did contain some large soil particles such as woodchips and some pebbles. |
Naming Notes | We obtained our sample from underneath a tree. We decided to name our phage "Tree" in Latin which would be "Inligno" because we wanted to name our phage from the location it was isolated from. |

Plaque Notes | Our phage is lysogenic because the plaques are not very clear and are kind of blurry. The plaque shape is a little bit shaped like an oval and is sized 0.2 cm. in diameter. The plaques would be described as turbid and not a representation of a lytic phase. Except when the amplification protocol was followed through our phage entered the lytic phase due to the increase in the number of phages. |
