Naming NotesJean-Baptiste is named after the main character from Albert Camus' "The Fall", Jean-Baptiste Clamence. Jean-Baptiste describes Amsterdam, the city in which he is living, as circle after circle of canals, making it analogous to the concentrically circled nature of Dante's description of hell, thereby offering to the reader that he is living in hell. The plaques created by the phage Jean-Baptiste form a similar, circular ringed pattern, hence the namesake.
