Discovery NotesThe phage was discovered 8/24/17 in damp, shaded soil located in a forest. The soil was at the site of a fallen, decomposed tree and was high in organics. Humidity was 95%, and the Temperature was 13 degrees Celsius.
Naming NotesThis phage was discovered producing very turbid plaques among another species of phage that produced much clearer plaques. I first named these phages after the French word for hidden, "caché". I felt that this was a rather boring name, and went with Johnny Cache instead.

Plaque NotesJohnny Cache produces small uniform plaques about 1 to 2 mm in diameter. In a serial dilution, the plaques are affected by some sort of density dependent factor. At lower dilutions, large turbid plaques are produced. At higher dilutions, smaller, more clear plaques can be found. Phage will not grow at 42 degrees Celcius.
