Discovery NotesI collected six different soil samples from Washington, NC, and Raleigh, NC. However, none of the samples that I collected contained phage or contained a small amount. I could not obtain the results that I needed to continue with these soil samples so I had to adopt a soil sample known to have phage in it from my classmate. I then continued using this soil sample and its results for the remainder of the semester.
Naming NotesWhen I was little, my favorite superhero was Spiderman. I began brainstorming names for my phage that could connect to Spiderman. However, I was having a difficult time. I then remembered that when I was little, I watched a movie called The Fantastic Four. The letters ph, found in the word phage, also make the sound of the letter f. I thought this made sense and decided to go with it.
