Discovery Notes | The soil from which this phage was isolated was located by a decaying tree stump and a lake. It was clay-like and moist. Tree foliage and shrubbery also offered coverage. The temperature and dew point were 28.9 and 14.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. The depth of the sample was approximately 7 cm. |
Naming Notes | Named after my small calico cat, Pippi, as this phage produces small plaques. |

Plaque Notes | Plaques are 0.5mm and 2.0mm in diameter with distinct clear centers and turbid halos. The 0.5mm plaques are are somewhat turbid, more so than the centers of the 2.0mm plaques. The centers of the 2.0mm plaques are approximately 0.5mm in size; they remain circular with obvious margins, and develop over 48 hours. Multiple plaque assays confirmed the presence of only one phage yielding these plaques. |
