| Discovery Notes | The appearance of my soil was very dark and wet. It also came from a flower pot with the extra nutrients added to the potting mix. Moss and algae were growing on the top, but my soil came from about 3 inches down. I confirmed through many experiments that RanserRd was a bacteriophage of Gordonia terrae, and I also confirmed through lysogen testing that RanserRd is also a bacteriophage of Gordonia lacunea. Through a spot titer, it was found that the titer of RanserRd was 3.3*10^10. This high titer allowed me to do DNA extraction, yielding a 128.2 ng/ul concentration. |
| Naming Notes | The name for this phage came from the street that I live on. Since I got the soil from a flower pot at my house, I thought it would be fun to name the phage after the street it was from. |
| Sequencing Information | |
| Sequencing Complete? | No |
| Genome length (bp) | Unknown |
| Character of genome ends | Unknown |
| Fasta file available? | No |
| Characterization | |
| Cluster | Unclustered |
| Subcluster | -- |
| Lysogeny Notes | According to my lysogeny experiments, RanserRd is a lysogenic phage that can also infect host bacteria Gordonia lacunae. The sensitivity assay showed that RanserRd is not immune to superinfection by two other phages, Archidore and CurlyShirley. |

| Plaque Notes | Throughout all of my experiments, my phage grew uniform plaques. They were small, round, and cloudy, signifying that my phage was lysogenic. |
