Discovery NotesCollected soil from (33.20756405300614 N, -97.15012918830371 W) in south eastern Denton, Texas. The temperature was about 97 degrees F and it was very dry in most areas from the heat, but there was slightly moistened dirt under one of the gutters. The location is out the back of Maple Hall, right in front of the entrance to the Mean Green Cafeteria. I dug about the top 1 inch of soil underneath the gutter in order to have nutritious soil, in hopes of having lots of bacteria. I then placed the soil in a plastic bag, along with the plastic spoon.
Naming NotesI named this phage after the song My Sharona, by The Knack. I really like this song and I thought it would be a fun name for a phage. Every time I hear the name of the phage, it reminds me of the song and I am able to sing the song in my head as I research the phage more.
