Discovery Notes | Soil was collected on a sunny morning in a flower bed in community lawn in Jericho, NY. The soil was pretty dark brown and slightly moist due to the morning dew. The dark color was an indicator of organic matter, especially as it was found in a flower bed. Soil samples were collected 2 inches below the surface and the soil was more sandy than clay like. The ambient temperature was around 50 °F. |
Naming Notes | I named my phage after my favorite Marvel superhero: Spiderman. The named Spiderweb reminded me of his web powers and also of the webbed plates in the protocols used in our biology web. |
