Discovery NotesThis sample was extracted near Hughes Hall on Gonzaga University's campus. The soil it was extracted from was moist, and had mushrooms growing nearby.This soil was sourced from an anthropogenic flower bed. This sample was extracted on January 15 of 2025, and the weather was cold.
Naming NotesThe name of our phage. "Spikeyspecs" stemmed from the name of Gonzaga University's mascot, "Spike the Bulldog" and was given the name "specs" as specs showed up in our plaque assay to indicate the presence of bacteriophage.
