Discovery Notes | The soil sample was collected on the campus of the University of the Pittsburgh. Specifically, it was taken from in front of the Soldiers and Sailors hall on campus. The area the soil was taken from contained a lot of vegetation as the sample was obtained in the midst of flower beds and bushes. There was also a lot of mulch in the area which was red in color. The soil was a little damp and moist and it also contained quite a few bugs. The storage conditions of the soil were in the fridge approximately 10 minutes after the sample was taken and it was stored in there for 30 minutes. The temperature the day the soil sample was taken was 63 degrees Fahrenheit. |
Naming Notes | This phage was named after my name. I was just trying to think of a creative name and this one fit in because I love siracha sauce and so the name "sriracha" was created for my phage. |
Sequencing Information | |
Sequencing Complete? | No |
Genome length (bp) | Unknown |
Character of genome ends | Unknown |
Fasta file available? | No |
Characterization | |
Cluster | Unclustered |

Lysogeny Notes | Based on the plaque morphology, this phage is assumed to be lysogenic. The plaques of this phage are cloudy and undefined at the edges which are characteristics of a lysogenic phage. However, a lyosgen test must be implemented in order to prove this hypothesis. |
Annotating Institution | Unknown or unassigned |

Plaque Notes | The plaques for Sriracha are about 1/2-2 mm in diameter. The plaques are round, cloudy, and have undefined edges so it was assumed to be lysogenic. |
