Discovery Notes | We found this sample in the garden behind the NSB (Natural Science Building) of Old Westbury. The soil was damp because it had rained the day before. The sample contained some small rocks. |
Naming Notes | We named our phage Stangry. This name originates from the name of my previously owned mustang that was sadly totaled in an accident. To keep the memory of Stangry alive, we decided to name our bacteriophage after Stangry. |

Plaque Notes | Our phages have a distinct, spherical morphology. They seem to be tiny and transparent. The phages appear smaller in diameter, yet their distribution is uniform. Phages that are closer to the top of the dish seem smaller. On the other hand, phages on the remaining portion of the plate appear to be widely distributed and near to one another. The average diameter of five of our plaques was 3 mm with a standard deviation of 0. |
