Discovery NotesPhage was discovered on January 15, 2014 on the Gonzaga Campus. Sample was taken behind the Jesuit house in a garden slightly on a slope. Sample was in the form of soil that was dampened. Sample was cultured at 25 degrees Celsius which was the optimal temperature for growth. Our phage also infects bacteria at 37 degrees Celsius but creates much smaller plaque. Phage was always cultured using the bacteria M. Smegmatis.
Naming NotesPhage name is Starryhyles

Plaque NotesPhage create plaque that are about .5mm in diameter. Plaque are very small and temperate. It takes at least 4 days for plaque to show up after streaking petri plates and infecting them with Smeg and top agar.
