Discovery NotesPhage was isolated at Gonzaga University on 8/30/17 from soil sample around campus. The phage was found to be compatible with the bacterium Microbacterium foliorum and was isolated and run under PCR for identification.
Naming NotesName of the phage came from Star Trek. Both my partner and I are Star Trek nerds, so we ended up naming it after a line by Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Starship Enterprise D. Since the enterprise serial number NCC-1701 is protected under copyright, we weren't able to use that name and therefore had to choose something else, which we chose to be Jean-Lucs favorite drink, Earl Grey Tea served hot.
