Discovery Notes | Tomatofury was isolated on Sept 16, 2021 from a tomato soil bed. The soil appeared nearly black, and felt fairly moist and spongy. |
Naming Notes | The "tomato" part of the name comes from the location the phage was isolated: a tomato soil bed. The "fury" comes from the "Night Fury", a species of dragon in the How to Train Your Dragon movie trilogy. However, it is also acceptable to think that the "fury" came from some of the frustration associated with finding a good name for this phage. |
