Discovery NotesCollected Soil in Southwest Denton, Texas. The temperature was about 101 degrees Fahrenheit and it was extremely hot and warm due to the time being 1:22 pm, so the sun was over cast; however, my soil sample site was shaded by a tree hanging above it. I dug about 1-2 inches into the top soil on the edge of the left side walk of Rawlins Hall - closest to the coliseum. Due to coverage and temperature, the soil was slightly damp and contained little moisture and perspiration. The soil was soft, but held hardness due to it containing bits of wood chips.
