Discovery NotesSample was dry and collected one night before initiating direct isolation protocol. Soil sample was stored in a standard fridge overnight in a sealed double ziplock bag, no water was added to the sample.

Location of collection is rich with sunlight and wild-life. It is also close to a dog park.

This phage was found on a plate with another phage, each of which were separated by plaque picking and further purified individually.
Naming NotesThroughout my life, I have admired owls and have always wished to see one in real life. Not only are they magnificent creatures, they also are a symbol representing wisdom and knowledge.

Both phages found in the soil sample were therefore names after different genera of owl species. Hence Tyto and Athene.
