Discovery NotesSample was isolated from a puddle in the middle courtyard outside of the Lewis dormitory at Tufts University. The soil was dark brown, damp, and had a coarse texture. It was collected about 5 cm below the surface. There were visible rocks, sticks, and roots with no signs of bugs or other organisms.
Naming NotesThe name "Udon" was selected because it is the favorite style of noodle of both founders.
