Discovery Notes | It was a cloudy, humid day of 78°F and it started raining as we collected the environmental samples. The sample was collected from a raised bed in a Gonzaga community garden. The dirt was taken from directly underneath the plant from the top soil. |
Naming Notes | The name comes from the saying at Gonzaga among students of “Zags help Zags.” ***Other student collaborators include Anthony Senffner and Emily Schwartz. |

Plaque Notes | The plaques were clear and had larger concentric circles making up the outer rings to each plaque. Throughout the serial dilutions, there were usually 20-200 plaques on the 10^-6 dilution factor plate. The calculated titer was 3.5x10^9 pfu/ml. A plaque was measured to have a 5mm diameter and 13mm diameter for the outer ring. |
